AlUla recognised with Sustainability Stand Award at Arabian Travel Market 2024

Dubai: At the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, AlUla, the historic city in northwest Saudi Arabia, was honored with the Sustainability Stand Award. Among 2,844 stand designs, AlUla’s exhibit stood out for its dedication to sustainability.

Under the banner of the ‘AlUla Green Initiative 2024’, the stand showcased eco-friendly materials and advanced waste management systems, minimizing environmental impact. Rami Almoallim, Vice President of Destination Management and Marketing at the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), stated, “The response to our sustainable stand at ATM 2024 has been overwhelmingly positive.”

AlUla’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond the exhibit. LED screens educated visitors on eco-friendly features, while attendees were invited to register for complimentary tree planting at Sharaan Nature Reserve.

In a proactive step, AlUla pledged to offset all emissions associated with ATM 2024, collaborating with ClimeCo. These measures highlight AlUla’s dedication to environmental stewardship.

Guided by the AlUla Sustainability Charter, initiatives include designating 50% of AlUla as nature reserves and prioritizing sustainable construction practices. The ambitious AlUla tramway project reinforces the region’s commitment to eco-friendly mobility, positioning AlUla as a model for sustainable tourism development.
