L&T wins Dubai contract to expand key road corridor

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates— Larsen & Toubro’s transportation infrastructure arm has won a major contract to upgrade a key road corridor in Dubai, marking another expansion of the Indian engineering group’s footprint in the Gulf.

The Transportation Infrastructure business vertical of L&T said it secured the Phase 1 contract for the improvement of Latifa Bint Hamdan Street, a project being undertaken by UAE authorities.

The scope of work includes upgrading the existing corridor from Emirates Road (E611) to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311), widening the current two-lane dual carriageway into a four-lane dual carriageway in each direction to boost capacity and ease traffic congestion.

A central feature of the project is the construction of a large structural interchange at E311, designed to allow smooth traffic movement in all directions. The corridor will also be extended with a new four-lane dual carriageway along Latifa Bint Hamdan Street.

In addition, the project includes a dedicated interchange to support U-turn movements and improve access to developments on both sides of the corridor, L&T said.

The road development is scheduled for completion within 36 months.

L&T has been steadily expanding its presence across the Gulf, where it has secured multiple infrastructure, transportation and urban development projects in recent years, particularly in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, as regional governments continue to invest heavily in connectivity and urban growth.
