How to sponsor parents for Dubai residency

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 1, 2025 (GDM) – Expatriate residents in Dubai who meet specific salary and accommodation criteria can sponsor their parents for a one-year residency visa, according to official guidelines.

To qualify, the sponsoring resident must be employed in mainland Dubai and earn a minimum monthly salary of 10,000 UAE dirhams ($2,723). They must also provide proof of a two-bedroom residence, registered through the government’s Ejari housing system.

The process requires an initial entry permit application, followed by sponsorship formalities. Key documents include the sponsor’s passport, Emirates ID, labor contract, and a three-month bank statement. For the parents, required paperwork includes their passport copies and proof of relationship, such as an attested birth certificate or a consular letter.

Additional costs include a refundable security deposit of 5,000 dirhams, medical testing, and fees for the entry permit, Emirates ID, and residence visa. The total official fees, excluding the deposit, amount to approximately 1,772 dirhams per parent.

The one-year visa allows parents to reside in Dubai, granting them access to the city’s healthcare, lifestyle, and safety amenities. The streamlined process reflects the emirate’s focus on family welfare within its expatriate community.
