Dubai: A major gas pipe explosion in Bur Dubai’s Mankhool area on Saturday evening has caused two deaths and gravely injured at least two people in an apartment complex, according to residents. The injured were reportedly rushed to Rashid Hospital, where they are receiving treatment for critical injuries.

Dubai Police officials have cordoned the area since and evacuated all residents from inside the building. The incident took place on the sixth floor of the seven-storey building. The explosion tore open the wall facing the building’s parking entrance, causing a large hole and a broken window panel.

According to media reports, there were at least 110 apartments in the complex, and all residents have been moved to Golden Sands hotel apartment opposite the building.
