Dust Storm Hospitalizes Over 100 in Iraq’s Kirkuk Province
BAGHDAD (July 2, 2025) — Health officials in Iraq’s northern Kirkuk province said more than 100 people were hospitalized after a severe dust storm swept through the region on Tuesday.
Saman Yaba, spokesperson for the province’s Health Directorate, said 109 people suffered respiratory distress and received treatment at local hospitals.
“All medical facilities were on full alert,” he said, adding that most of the patients were discharged after receiving prompt care.
The storm, which began early Tuesday, intensified throughout the day, posing a serious risk to individuals with chronic respiratory conditions.
