The Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah celebrates World Wildlife Day

Sharjah, 7th March 2021: The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah, organized a photo exhibition at the Al Dhaid Wildlife Center on the occasion of the World Wildlife Day, which falls on the 3rd March every year and aims to highlight the importance of protecting nature, wild animals, and plants from extinction. The exhibition was on display for all of the Authority’s employees to view, as well as officials and employees of the Central Region departments.

The exhibition included photos of animals in their natural habitats, taken by photographer Ali Bin Thalith, in addition to samples of local plants from the Central Region. A number of workshops and lectures were also organized to raise awareness of the importance of wildlife preservation, and an inspiration corner was set up to review and highlight some of the wildlife initiatives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah

Her Excellency Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah, said, “The authority is keen to celebrate various environmental events, as part of its agenda and strategy based on the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at protecting the environment. Our mission is to raise awareness and educate the community on conservation and preservation of biological diversity and environmental sustainability. The photo exhibition at the Al Dhaid Wildlife Center that was held to celebrate World Wildlife Day is just one initiative that the Authority has organized to emphasize the importance of environmental awareness for all members of society.

Al Suwaidi continued, “The Al Dhaid Wildlife Center is one of the most important specialized centers that provides visitors with information about desert life and an opportunity to explore its wildlife. Through the centre’s various departments, such as the heritage area, poetry room, and an interactive education area for children, citizens and residents can learn about the environmental strategy of Sharjah and its plans to expand the establishment of educational ecotourism projects.”

The Environment and Protected Areas Authority has an agenda packed full of environmental projects, which are implemented and completed after preparing comprehensive studies and accurate readings of various details, according to the authority’s plans and strategies derived from the visions and directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and his careful follow-up, care and unlimited support in order to continue to raise environmental awareness and preserve the environment.

The exhibition was met with a remarkable response, and the admiration and approval of its audience, who expressed their appreciation and thanks to the authority.

The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah seeks to protect the environment, natural reserves, wildlife and their biodiversity through scientific studies and research. The authority publishes educational awareness material, implements policies for environmental awareness and programs, and launches specialized campaigns in the field of environmental awareness and education.
