Open Track Night set to make debut at BIC on Friday
BIC, Sakhir – Racing has just hit top gear at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.
“The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East” announced today(May 12th) that motorsport fans will soon be able to experience first-hand the unique spectacle of racing around a Formula One track lit up by floodlights.
This comes with the launch of BIC’s all-new Open Track Night, to be held for the very first time this coming Friday (May 16).
Building on the popularity of BIC’s Open Track Days, Open Track Night takes the racing experience to another level. Bring in your very own car or motorbike and race under the brilliance of BIC’s world-famous, state-of-the-art track lighting system, which made its global debut to much fanfare at this year’s Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
BIC is inviting both petrol heads and general thrill-seekers alike to be a part of one of the circuit’s most exciting offerings today.
“We are extremely delighted to be adding Open Track Night to the wide range of exciting activities we have on offer here at BIC,” said BIC Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa.
“Following the wonderful success of our first Formula One night race earlier this year, it is only fitting that we continue to build on the limitless potential of our track floodlighting system, and Open Track Night is the first step to achieving this.
“Open Track Night is definitely something that must not be missed, and we call on all race fans to take advantage and make the most of this latest and most unique offering here at ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’.”
BIC’s Open Track activity during the day time has already been one of the circuit’s most popular events over the past decade. Participants come from all over the Gulf and they bring in a wide variety of cars and motorbikes to drive on, ranging from GTRs to 911s and Corvettes, to Hennesseys and Lamborghinis, Caterhams and Westfields, and so much more.
Open Track Night offers the unbelievable opportunity of racing these powerful machines under floodlights.
Open Track is run to the highest of international safety standards, although drivers will still be able to push their cars or motorbikes to their very limit.
The choice of enjoying either a full night’s drive or a half-night’s participation can be made. Before the activity begins, officials will first inspect vehicles to ensure they are fit to participate. BIC’s highly qualified professional driving instructors will also conduct a briefing to discuss with each driver the safety, driving rules and techniques, circuit information, and how to handle emergency situations while out on the tarmac.
Also on offer on Friday at BIC is the Caterham Xtreme. Guests can get into the passenger seat of an ultra-light and ultra-quick Caterham car and speed around the track next to a BIC driving instructor.
