Nahyan receives crew of Kuwaiti-sponsored 'Journey of Hope' boat

ABU DHABI- Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development  received the crew members of the Kuwaiti-sponsored ‘Journey of Hope’ boat which arrived in Abu Dhabi’s Free Port, as part of its 19-country tour to promote Kuwait’s efforts to support mentally disabled people.

In his remarks during the meeting at his palace in presence of Kuwaiti Ambassador Salah Mohammed Al Bai’jan, Sheikh Nahyan commended the journey for reviving hopes of people with mental disabilities and for reflecting the interest of H.H. the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the government and people of Kuwait in this segment of the society. 

He noted that the initiative shows how sophisticated the society is as our religion urges us to engage in cooperation and solidarity for the benefit of people with special needs. 

“It is our duty to grow their self-confidence and give them opportunities to train and get involved in the private and public institutions,” said Sheikh Nahyan.

Journey of Hope’s leader Yousef Al Jasem thanks U.A.E. officials for their support for the journey upon its arrival in the country. 

‘Journey of Hope’ boat came to Abu Dhabi from Doha, Qatar, its second stop, and is scheduled to visit other Gulf countries, Yemen and Egypt before heading to Europe and then to Washington, U.S.A, its final destination.-WAM
