‘Million Player’ Championship returns to the UAE

ABU DHABI- The UAE’s richest video game football tournament was launched in Abu Dhabi today(May 20th).

The Million Player and International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) announced the details of the Million Player competition, which will see thousands of PS4 gamers from across the UAE battle it out on FIFA 14 for the coveted AED 1 million first prize.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the Million Player championship will be held from the 2nd to 28th day of Ramadan 2014 and expects to attract more than 50,000 entrants. The initial qualifying stages and final will take place at Aljazeera Sport Club, Abu Dhabi.

“We are thrilled to be the Official Partner and Sponsor of this exciting event,” said Khadem Al Qubaisi, Managing Director of IPIC. “The tournament is an opportunity for the UAE’s youth to show off their skills in a competitive environment, meet like-minded people, and be part of the wider community of gaming and football enthusiasts.”

The Million Player 2014 Competition is organized by Power League Gaming. IPIC is the Official Partner and official Sponsor of the competition. Abu Dhabi Sports & Dubai sports are the Media Sponsors, and Emirates Park Zoo, Emirates Identity Authority, Takreer, UAE Football Association, and Absher Initiative are also sponsoring the event.

There are some magnificent prizes up for grabs in this year’s tournament. Besides the incredible AED 1 million first prize, the runner-up and third placed player will drive away in new cars, whilst the fourth and fifth place players will receive AED 15,000 and AED 10,000, respectively.
