Kia and LG Join Forces to Turn Cars into Smart Workspaces and Leisure Lounges

Dubai: Kia Corporation and LG Electronics have teamed up to unveil a bold new vision for the future of mobility – vehicles that double as smart offices and mobile leisure hubs. The two South Korean tech giants showcased their futuristic Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) concepts at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show, offering a glimpse into how AI-powered appliances and automotive tech could redefine work and play on the move.

The groundbreaking collaboration was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at Kia’s pavilion at KINTEX, Goyang. It merges Kia’s PBV vehicle platform with LG’s cutting-edge home appliance and AI technology, laying the groundwork for a new breed of intelligent, multi-purpose vehicles set to launch in the second half of 2026.

From Commute to Conference Room: Meet the PV5 Spielraum Concepts

Taking centre stage at the event were two futuristic concept models – the PV5 Spielraum Studio and PV5 Spielraum Glow Cabin. Aptly named after the German word Spielraum, meaning “play space,” these PBV designs explore the idea of flexible, multifunctional vehicle environments tailored to modern lifestyles.

The Spielraum Studio concept is aimed squarely at solo entrepreneurs and digital nomads. Outfitted with LG’s AI-powered appliances – including modular Stylers, smart mirrors, and a built-in coffee machine – this compact mobile studio can track your business schedule, estimate arrival times, and even adjust appliance settings automatically to enhance productivity on the go.

On the flip side, the Spielraum Glow cabin concept is built for leisure lovers and the rising trend of “car-picnicking.”Featuring a fridge, lightwave oven, wine cellar, and LG’s MoodUP™ colour-changing panels, the cabin creates a customisable atmosphere ideal for unwinding after a long day or enjoying scenic weekends.

Cars That Think, Adapt, and Serve

“This partnership with LG Electronics advances the core value of PBVs, contributing to a new mobility paradigm where vehicles evolve into personalised spaces for living and working,” said Won-Jeong Jeong, Executive VP at Kia. “By offering mobility space solutions that combine automobiles with home appliances, we aim to lead a transformative shift in customer lifestyles.”

LG echoed the ambition, highlighting its commitment to developing AI-powered home appliances tailored for mobile environments. Both companies are expected to expand their cooperation beyond PBVs, exploring innovations that streamline everyday life through smart, adaptive technology.

With these tech-savvy PBVs poised for launch in 2026, Kia and LG are blurring the lines between transport and lifestyle, driving a future where your car could be your office, café, or weekend retreat.
