Bahrain, Al-Azhar sign agreement
MANAMA–Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, today(May 7th) expressed delight in signing an agreement between Al-Azhar and Ministry of
Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowment that aims to promote scientific and cultural cooperation and strengthening dialogue among civilizations, whether by holding conferences or bilateral meetings.
Sheikh Al-Tayeb explained, in accordance with the agreement, a joint committee from Al-Azhar and the Kingdom of Bahrain will be formed under the chairmanship of Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Shiakh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, to hold biannual periodic meetings alternatively between Cairo and Manama.
He highlighted the importance of the Dialogue among Civilizations and Cultures Conference which represents a serious step towards supporting dialogue among various religious sects and beliefs of various Arabic and Islamic countries, and stressed willingness to cooperate with Bahrain to promote and disseminate the recommendations of the Conference. -BNA
