Arab Information Ministers start their 45th session

CAIRO– Activities of the 45th Session of the Arab Information Ministers’ Council began on Thursday at the Headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo under the chairmanship of Jordanian State Minister for Media Affairs and Communications Mohammad Momani in succession to his Yemeni counterpart Ali Ahmed Al-Omrani. 

Abdulrahman Nasser Al Obaidan, the adviser at the Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) represents the State Of Qatar to the session. 

The participants attending the new session will discuss the draft agenda and recommendations worked out by the executive office of the Arab information ministers’council over the past two days under Saudi Culture And Information Minister Abdulaziz Bin Moheiddin Khouja . 

The minister will deliver a speech in which he will discuss challenges facing the region as well as the role of the media in addressing these challenges in addition to issues raised on the meeting’s agenda. 
The council will also discuss a set of issues of joint Arab media work issues including a draft code of honor of the Arab media , the Arab media draft strategy, working out a mechanism to prevent jamming on Arab satellites and stooping transmission of satellite channels. 

They will also deliberate on following up the implementation of the Arab League Council resolutions at the summit and at the ministerial levels regarding Arab media action and following up the new plan to ensure Arab media movement abroad and to support the Palestinian cause, and the role of media in addressing terrorism phenomenon and the draft of establishing an electronic radio and television to the Arab League and documenting the heritage memory. 

Earlier today, the Arab information ministers held a closed consultative meeting in the presence of the Arab League Chief Dr. Nabil Al Arabi for consulting topics tabled on the draft agenda with emphasis on the role of Arab media in executing Arab summit resolutions and supporting the Palestinian cause and the role of Arab media on the international level and shedding light on Arab visions as related to the latest updates in the Arab region.-QNA
