AJMAN-The Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Leadership Program, a first-of-its-kind program that aims to empower talented young individuals with essential leadership qualities, will for the first time be open to applicants of all GCC nationalities for its 2014/15 edition.

Now in its second year, the program seeks to nurture the next generation of leaders in the region by imparting candidates with the knowledge and skills they require to take responsibility, drive leadership and lead teams at every level across both the public and private sectors, drawing from global best practices. Its main sponsor is Ajman Holding, which consolidates the various large scale infrastructure and investment projects that contribute towards the Emirate’s economic, social and industrial development.

The Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Leadership Program will hold a press conference on 13th May 2014to mark the launch of its 2014/15 edition. Potential candidates will be able to register for the program online from 1st May 2014. All GCC nationals between the ages of 25 and 35 are welcome to apply if they meet the course requirements: that applicants must have at least a higher diploma, have a minimum of two years’ work experience, be currently employed and satisfy a minimal English skills standard (above 500 TOEFL or 5 IELTS).

Speaking about the program, Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Program said: “This program gives talented and determined young men and women a unique chance to learn new skills, broaden their horizons, and step up to become the new successful leaders of the future. We want to create a new generation of young and empowered leaders – it is our gift from Ajman to the region.” He went on to stress that he would be taking a close and personal interest journey of those who join and complete the program.

The Program has been designed to impart the principles of effective strategy and management to students in practice and in theory, as well as to provide essential training around intellectual, emotional and physical well being. Over a period of six months encompassing 180 direct learning hours – six hours per day for 5 working days per month – successful delegates will receive in-depth training in key areas of leadership in a carefully designed program consisting of six distinct modules comprising both class room and experience-based instruction that will be complemented with special input sessions on emotional intelligence and, to prepare candidates for a rapidly evolving world, the leadership requirements of social media.

The course program includes the Class Room module which will focus on six core competencies – Organizational Behaviour & Sustainable Excellence, Strategic Management, Performance Management, Personal Development & Financial Planning, Change Management, and Emotional Intelligence, as well as modules on Health & Nutrition, Etiquette & Protocol, Coaching & Mentoring, Media Coaching, and Experiential Learning.

The Program stresses inclusivity and welcomes applicants from a wide range of different industries and backgrounds and, for the first time this year eligibility has been expanded to include all GCC nationals. Candidates will be trained by a highly respected team of trainers with many decades of international experience between them. Evidence from the pilot program last year underlines the potential of this course to improve leadership qualities: candidates were unanimously satisfied by the use and value of program materials, while we also measured a dramatic improvement in their communication and presentation skills.
