15 Sports Events to Happen in Dubai This Weekend

DUBAI- 15 International and Local Sports Events to Take Place in Dubai This Weekend, Including 4 International Championships in Partnership with Dubai Sports Council.

Dubai is all set to host an exciting lineup of international and local sports events this weekend. At the top of the list is the World Footvolley Championship, slated to take place on 28th and 29th April 2023 at the JBR Hilton Jumeirah Hotel. The championship will feature 32 players representing 16 teams from various countries, including France, Italy, Denmark, Britain, America, Romania, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Brazil, Turkey, and the UAE. Among the renowned players who will participate are Brazilian international player Anderson Aguia, former Dutch star Edgar Davids, Tariq Ahmed from the Al-Ahli Youth Team, and Houria Al-Tahri, coach of the Women’s National Team. The competition will begin on Friday at 02:00 pm and continue on Saturday from 09:00 am.

Dubai is also hosting the Asian Badminton Championship for the first time, with 300 male and female players from 28 countries competing at Al-Nasr Sports Club. The event features nine players ranked in the top of the world and will showcase various categories including men’s single, women’s single, men’s double, women’s double, and mixed category.

The second round of Dubai Fishing Championship (Kingfish & Skull) will be held from Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th April at Dubai International Marine Club. The International Schools Basketball Championship will take place from 28th to 30th April at Aflec French School in Al-Nasr Club – Oud Maitha, with the participation of 30 teams from various countries. The event is open to students aged 14 years and the competitions will be held from 09:00 am to 06:00 pm.

On 29th April, the FCC International Boxing Championship will take place at the FCC Hall in Al-Quoz. 18 bouts will be held with participation from 38 boxers representing countries such as France, Ireland, Mexico, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Britain, America, Egypt, Cameroon, India, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Tajikistan, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Zambia.

Also on 29th April, the Strong Weightlifting Championship will take place at the Strong Gym Club in Al-Quoz, while the Community Champions Mountain Bike Race will take place on 30th April at the Mountain Bike Track in Mushrif Park. The race will feature contestants competing in three categories: 6 km, 10 km & 20 km.

Finally, the Eid Polo Challenge Cup will be held on 30th April at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club, while the Sketchers Run will take place at Rashid Port near Deira Islands. The run is open to participants aged 9 to 99 years and features three categories: 3 km, 5 km & 10 km.
