World premieres of Angry Birds,Skylanders & TRANSFORMERS to enthrall residents and visitors

DUBAI- This summer, the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment is bringing to the city some of the world’s best-loved entertainment characters for their highly anticipated World Premiere performances. Visitors and residents of Dubai can look forward to being the first audiences in the world to enjoy an action-packed summer agenda in Dubai, led by some of the world’s most sought after entertainment brands such as Angry Birds, TRANSFORMERS and Skylanders.

Launching the exciting line-up and also the ‘Eid in Dubai- Eid Al Fitr’ celebrations will be the World Premiere of Angry Birds Universe Interactive Experience at Modhesh World, the region’s popular indoor family edutainment destination. To be held from the first day of Eid until 8 September, the launch of this interactive zone will offer a whole new experience of endless family fun this summer. From toddlers to grandparents – visitors of all ages can look forward to a number of games and hand-on activities covering science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics that will transform learning into an enjoyable and engaging adventure.

Those looking to add bursts of sci-fi fun into their Eid celebrations can head to the TRANSFORMERS Interactive Experience at Modhesh World from the first day of Eid to 8 September. Children (above six years) and teenagers can gear up to put their hand-eye coordination, fine motor, spatial and problem-solving skills to test at the number of activities and games setup within the zone. It is the perfect opportunity for fans to learn more about their favourite action heroes before they get up close and personal with them at BurJuman soon after.

The World Premiere of The Decepticon Clone TRANSFORMERS live show marks an exciting beginning to the DSS celebrations at BurJuman. From 31 July until 9 August, the almost eight-feet tall Cybertronians, including OPTIMUS PRIME, MEGATRON and BUMBLEBEE will descend upon the mall to enthral shoppers with their first-ever world performance, followed by plenty of meet and greet opportunities. From sci-fi action and special effects to a soaring stage designed exclusively for the Autobots, there is a lot to watch out for at the mall this summer. The three daily shows will be held at 6pm, 7:30pm and 8:50pm.

Fans of the popular video game franchise Skylanders can get ready to embark on a thrilling journey with the World Premiere of Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure show. Children and grownups will experience the Skylanders action figures come alive on stage during three daily 20-minute shows at City Centre Mirdif from 7 – 16 August and at City Centre Deira from 21 – 30 August. Audiences can save the dates to watch Spyro, the ever-popular dragon soar across the stage via cabling as he goes head-to-gill with Gill Grunt and his water cannon to wow the fans.

The seventh edition of ‘Eid in Dubai’ and the 17^th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises is organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM). DSS will run from 2 August to 5 September, 2014, under the theme, “The Fun Side of Summer”.
