Uber opens doors to Windows Phone users in UAE

DUBAI-  Uber, the popular technology platform that connects users with safe, reliable and seamless transportation in cities around the world has announced the availability of the official Windows Phone app.

unnamedunnamedUber for Windows Phone is a fast, full-featured native app that enables users to easily order a driver assisted car in UAE, Qatar and KSA.

To encourage Lumia users to experience the next level cab service, all users will get AED 100 off their first Uber ride. With the app Lumia users wouldn’t have to ever hail down a cab from the curb. Users can simply pull out their Lumia, request a pickup with a screen tap and their very own Uber driver will appear in minutes.

“We welcome Uber to our fast-growing Windows Phone ecosystem. Now with Uber on Windows Phone, our users will have a seamless ride at the touch of a button. We are glad to welcome the Windows Phone community to enjoy an Uber experience with the AED 100 free credit when they need to book a ride using the app,” said Praveen Prabhakaran, Head of Ecosystem & Developer Experience, Middle East at Microsoft Mobile Devices.

The app uses the phone’s GPS to detect the user’s location and enables them to mark their pickup point on the easy to use screen map. Within minutes Uber will send a text message to the users when the car arrives. Alternatively, users can check the map location of the car within the app.

“We are excited to be giving Windows Phone users a safe and reliable choice in how they move around their city. Previously, these users accessed Uber through our mobile site, but beginning immediately users can connect through a native app that is optimized for the Windows platform and reflects the complete Uber experience.   Now users will be able to open the Uber app on their Windows Phone anywhere in the world – whether in the Middle East, Europe or the U.S – and seamlessly request a ride at the touch of a button,” said JP Mondalek, General Manager, Uber UAE.

Every Uber driver partner is fully, insured, background checked, ensuring users experience the safest ride on the road.  Once the ride is complete all payments are handled electronically making it truly a cashless experience. Uber runs on all Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 smartphones, from the Lumia 635,Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520. Users can download it from the Windows Phone Store- for free.

Lumia users in the UAE can avail the exclusive AED 100 off their first ride by using the promo code “LUMIAUAE”.
