Toyota sells over 350,000 vehicles in Middle East in the first half of 2014

DUBAI – Toyota today(August 18th) announced a  steady growth in sales in the Middle East (GCC, Yemen, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq) selling 356,805 units in the first half of 2014 (Jan- June 2014) which is a 6 % growth in sales as compared to the same period in 2013. Toyota’s sales saw a balanced growth across its diverse portfolio of sedans, SUVs and pickups to maintain its leadership position in the region.  

According to Takayuki Yoshitsugu, Chief Representative of Middle East & North Africa Representative Office, Toyota Motor Corporation,“The consistent growth in sales during the first half of this year validates the success of Toyota’s new design direction in terms of developing more emotionally compelling products to connect with consumers. We are committed to making vehicles that have Waku-Doki which translates to being exciting and fun to drive and this has also resulted in a quantum jump in customer satisfaction while giving them the peace of mind of Toyota ownership. These results give us a good platform to build on in terms of extending our robust performance for the rest of 2014 with a great lineup of vehicles that reflect our ongoing product innovation, quality, durability and reliability.”

Sales of the new look Yaris sedan saw a 63%increase as it sold 27,823 units in 2014 with customers appreciating the car for its superior value and performance combined with its style and durability.

With its increased body size to offer a spacious and luxurious interior, its excellent handling stability and ride comfort, the Yaris sedan signals yet another success story for Toyota and endorsement of its attractive and dynamic exterior design.

The Yaris is available with the option of a 1.5 L or a 1.3 L engine.

The superior performance and capability, fun to drive experience and striking design of the RAV4 pushed sales by 34 % to hit 7,960 units in the first 6 months of 2014.

In addition to its exhilarating exterior, the RAV4 builds on its key attributes of ride comfort, ease of driving and maneuverability on even tough road surfaces with a retuned front and rear suspension systems, revised Electric Power Steering, and a new Dynamic Torque Control 4WD.

Sales of Toyota’s iconic Land Cruiser SUV with its sophisticated blend of off-road performance, phenomenal go-anywhere capability, on-road comfort and unparalleled refinement, also witnessed an increase selling 41,083 units during the first half of 2014 to see a 4 % increase.

The Land Cruiser comes equipped with versatile features such as a Multi-Terrain select system offering 5 modes, which allows the vehicle to adapt to various road conditions for excellent off-road performance.

It also offers intelligent off-roading technologies such as a Crawl Control system which offers five speeds to maintain a constant low speed for a secure drive across different terrain by providing optimal throttle and brake control.

Famed for its ultra-tough quality, the Hilux pick-up also saw a 17%increase to sell 81,705 units during this period. Available with a 2.7L or 2.0L Petrol Engine with Variable Valve Timing – intelligent (VVT–i) the Hilux’s engine generates high performance and provides excellent fuel efficiency. 

The Hilux combines traditional robustness and excellent load-carrying capacity with comfort, safety and equipment features to make it a vehicle that ably bridges the divide between work and everyday driving needs.

The Hilux also has plenty of cabin space, seating up to six adults in the double cab. A dynamic presence integrating advanced power and quality, the Hilux blends a sophisticated new design, setting the standards and leading the way for a new generation of versatile utility vehicles.
