‘The Big Weekend’ to bring miles of smiles to everyone’s faces

ABU DHABI- The capital’s most exciting family fun festival will take place at Zayed Sports City from October 30 – November 1 2014, promising three whole days of exciting activities for children of all ages.  Tickets are priced at just AED 50 for ‘The Big Weekend’ extravaganza, offering up an alluring variety of family-friendly games, sports activities, arts & crafts and light-hearted entertainment.

‘The Big Weekend’ sees children awash with enthusiasm whilst getting silly in soapy soccer, trying out sports, bouncy castles and a petting zoo amongst a whole host of other activities.

Budding athletes from across the UAE will also get the chance to compete for the title of “Abu Dhabi’s Fittest Kid”.  The competition will see children of all ages battle it out for the coveted tile and prize.

“The Big Weekend will be attended by thousands of families because it offers an unrivalled way to spend the weekend together,” says Barry Bremner, General Manager of Zayed Sports City.

Competitions, youth performances, and a handicrafts bazaar are also set to keep visitors occupied throughout the fun-filled three-day weekend.

“It’s a great way for families to have fun and get active, offering an impressive array of entertainment to keep our guests smiling all through the weekend.  The event sees kids being kids again. We’re providing a unique and healthy entertainment outlet that is well distanced from TVs and computer screens,” says Barry.

Stilt-walkers, jugglers and cartoon characters will be making appearances throughout the three days, surprising families and posing for pictures.

The UAE’s home of sports – Zayed Sports City – is also presenting opportunities to participate in activities such as the football, tennis, rugby and basketball.

Teens and adults will not want to stand by and watch the smiles though. Alongside sporting activities, entertainment and the marketplace will be elements including a high-octane obstacle course and bungee run to put them through their paces.

“We’ve put a lot of effort into making sure that nobody will be left out of the fun and have included all of the excitement in the nominal ticket fee this year. The Big Weekend will get families to spend meaningful and active time together and it’s going to be a fantastic event,” noted Barry.

Prices for tickets to Zayed Sports City’s Big Weekend are just AED 50 for a day pass, whilst a family ticket is also available for just AED 180.  The cost of the ticket includes admission to all activities.
