DOHA- Sweden’s Minister of Trade Dr. Ewa Bjorling, currently visiting Qatar, said her country seeks to boost its bilateral trade and deepen its relationship with Qatar.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA) at a reception held here last night(May 14th) to celebrate the official opening of the Swedish embassy in Qatar, Dr. Bjorling said, “The total value of Swedish exports to Qatar in 2013 was US $260 Million and Qatar’s exports to Sweden was around $86.6 Million. We hope to increase our business and trade ties with Qatar.” The minister is leading a business delegation comprising top executives from leading Swedish companies on a visit to Qatar.
On Sweden’s objective to open embassy in Doha is to deepen our relationship with Qatar and increase our trade, Dr Bjorling said.
Sweden hopes to increase exports, especially in telecoms, information and communications technology, machinery, clean environment technology, waste management, particularly vacuum technology to handle waste and harness energy out of it, she said.
Sweden’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar Ewa Polano told QNA, “Opening Sweden’s embassy in Doha is an historic occasion for us. We hope to build on the good relations with the State of Qatar.” Our Minister for Trade Dr. Bjorling and the accompanying Swedish delegation had encouraging talks with various Qatari ministries and officials yesterday, she said.
“Sweden is keen to build partnerships in education, information and communications technology, health, airport infrastructure and sustainable solutions with Qatar,” said Polano.-QNA
