Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation Launches New Artist-In-Residence Programme

Ras Al Khaimah : The Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation is launching its new Artist-in-Residence program and has issued an extended call for submissions for two of its other arts and culture initiatives: the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival and the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival Film Grant. These opportunities support the burgeoning arts scene in the Northern Emirates and local emerging talent.

Artist-in-Residence Program
The Al Qasimi Foundation’s new Artist-in-Residence program provides opportunities for visiting local and international artists to produce new works and engage in cultural exchange with the Ras Al Khaimah community.

Applications are welcome from all art media, and residencies are based in the Al Qasimi Foundation’s Studio & Gallery space. Visiting artists are encouraged to draw inspiration from the Emirates as they work on personal projects and to share their talents with the local community by leading art workshops and classes. The experience also includes a hosted exhibition in the Studio & Gallery. The submission deadline is August 31, 2019 and more information is available on the Foundation’s website.

The 8th Annual Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival
The 8th edition of the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival (RAKFAF), which is returning to the recently restored historic village of Al Jazirah Al Hamra Old Town, celebrates the evolving art scene in the Emirate and champions local artistic talent. The theme of the 2020 Festival is Connected Communities. Through this theme, the Festival seeks to explore the many ways people build relationships with others, their surrounding environments, and the natural world. The extended call for submissions will close on August 31, 2019.

Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival Film Grant  The Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival Film Grant provides modest start-up funding for filmmakers to create short documentaries and films on topics relevant to the UAE and broader Gulf Region. In addition, they seek to support emerging talent in the local film industry while sharing stories that provide unique insights into the region.
