Sharjah: As part of the SAP Innovation Day held in Sharjah recently, Noor Ali Al Noman, Director of the Sharjah Department of eGovernment (DeG), addressed an assembly of senior public sector officials and commercial executives from around the region about Sharjah’s phenomenal success in transforming the government’s operations into a digital format.
The audience heard how different forms of technology can power innovation and digital transformation, and the effect that has had on the efficiency and effectiveness of Sharjah’s communications, dramatically reducing time and costs. Al Noman, who spoke at a panel discussion titled “Enabling Digital Transformation” at SAP Innovation Day, described the integration as a revolution in terms of productivity.
“This transition has played an essential role in terms of Sharjah’s progress on a wider economic wider scale, its scope of services, its proficiency among departments and its consolidation of resources. Without this conversion from a hard-copy based system to a digital format, it is impossible to move forward.”
Acting as moderator, Pedro S. Pereira, Digital and Innovation Leader at SAP EMEA South, also asked Al Noman about what innovations and solutions were needed to ensure the momentum of Sharjah Government’s rapid and radical transition.
Al Noman explained: “Our progressive and success digital transformation has not only allowed us to keep pace with latest technologies, but also aim to pioneer the next generation. It is a constant challenge to look for the next projects and set them as new benchmarks.”
Al Noman continued by showcasing innovative features to support the digital transformation of Sharjah through DeG’s “Sharjah Land” game, which has recently launched its latest edition in early May. She highlighted that “Sharjah Land” presented itself as a unique child-friendly communication platform, allowing young users to interact with a variety of government entities in Sharjah, and educate them on values of communication, sustainability, growth and community development.
“The SAP Innovation Day has been an excellent opportunity for us to share our knowledge and experiences with the industry elite and explore what the future holds for Sharjah in the coming years. Thanks to the organisers for choosing DeG to partner in the event we have hopefully inspired others to embrace this transformation,” concluded Al Noman.
