Sajaya concludes 1st Afaq Leadership Camp and trains 40 Emirati young women on leadership skills

SHARJAH- Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, formerly known as Sharjah Girls Centers, has concluded a highly stimulating summer leadership camp entitled Afaq first Leadership Camp last Monday(August 11th).

The camp commenced last Wednesday, August 6th 2014. The initiative aimed at further developing the innate spirit of leadership in young Emirati ladies, serving the interests of the nation in a wide array of fields.

Organized at the impressive 72 by Hues Hotel Sharjah in presence of 40 young enterprising women who hold leadership positions in different industries; the camp included several motivating programs and workshops. Most notably, it included the internationally recognized ILM qualifications program, followed by workshops on building confidence and  self-esteem. The event also featured interesting volunteering work program, communicational skills workshop as well as a recreational excursion

Speaking on the occasion, Aisha bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Assistant Manager of Sajaya Girls Sharjah, said: “We began planning for Afaq Leadership first Camp with the express intention of assisting girls to develop their personal skills and explore new horizons. In addition to this, we strove to raise awareness pertaining to the culture of social responsibility and community participation by fostering knowledge, experience as well as nurturing participants’ natural abilities. I am happy to conclude that these girls are now fully equipped to play an active role in social and cultural discussions”.

She added: “Such goals can not be completely achieved in one single course. There are plans to hold a series of successive courses in the years to come, which will guide, educate and enable Emirati girls continue their successful careers in the government sector. These courses will enhance leadership skills in women who can then make an inspiring contribution to the UAE’s sustainable development.”

Noura Al Hamer, Head of Internal Relations Committee at 1stAfaq Leadership Camp, said: “The most outstanding achievement through the camp is the discovery of true leadership spirit in our girls. We were really pleased to witness such enormous enthusiasm in our girls who were keen to understand the meaning of leadership and had the eagerness to develop their managerial skills and abilities.”

Hind Farid Al Fardan, Head of Activities Committee, expressed confidence and predicted the camp’s sustained success in the forthcoming years. She added: “The camp will continue gathering momentum and drawing attention through constant development. For this purpose, we will constantly study each and every suggestion proposed by the team and participating girls as well as take into account parents’ recommendations.”

The camp left a positive impression on the girls and their parents as well as obtained a great response from participants. In high demand, the management received entry applications till the last day of the camp, ensuring the camp’s success in terms of meeting the aspirations and training needs of the girls.
