RTA launches smart app for driver license tests

DUBAI-The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently launched a free Knowledge Test on a trial base for driver license applicants via a mobile phone smart app (RTA Dubai) as part of its relentless endeavours to harness technology for the service of clients, besides supporting the smart government initiative of the Dubai Emirate.

اختبار المعرفة 5Hussain Al Saffar, Director of Drivers Training and Qualification, RTA Licensing Agency, said: “Obtaining a driver license is no longer a luxury but a life necessity dictated by the requirements of the job and earning a living. Therefore we opted to add this service to the lineup of RTA smart app services (RTA Dubai) to rid clients of any confusion when going through steps of obtaining a driver license, be it through a direct test or emulating the tests awaiting driver license applicants. It is noteworthy that the service has attracted more than 107 thousand users in less than two months.”

“This smart app can be used in both iPhone and Android smart phones. The steps are as follows: Download the app in the phone, select the suitable interface language (Arabic, English or Urdu), select drivers category, select knowledge test exercise, read instructions, and select the type of vehicle (light vehicle, heavy vehicle, motorcycle, light bus). Then the test will start comprising 35 questions, each questions has three potential answers for selecting the right one. By the end of the test, the applicant will get a score showing correct and incorrect answers achieved, and the test will last 30 minutes displayed as an icon on the screen,” continued Al Saffar.

“The free experimental Knowledge Test service through (RTA Dubai) app seeks to hit a number of objectives highlighted by supporting the Smart Government initiative in Dubai launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, availing trainees another means or tool to acquaint themselves with RTA’s Knowledge Test, and furthering the perception of trainees about all information related to traffic safety and driving rules,” said the Director of Drivers Training and Qualification, RTA Licensing Agency in a concluding remark.
