Royal Opera House of Muscat soon to open new season

OMAN– The Royal Opera House of Muscat (ROHM), the leading arts and culture organization of the Sultanate of Oman, has announced that it will soon be opening its 2014-2015 culture and arts season, boasting of a line-up of Arabic and international performances from some of the world’s highly renowned artists and performing companies. ROHM, which was established under the vision and patronage of Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman, has managed to become one of the most prominent institutions for music and the arts in the Sultanate of Oman and for the rest of the world.

Christina Scheppelman, Director General, ROHM, said, “We are pleased to announce the opening of our new season—which is set to feature performances from both top local and international artists and performing troupes. Proving true to our reputation of being leading arts and culture organization in Oman, this year’s season will showcase exceptional selections of Opera, ballet, symphonic music, arabesque, family-friendly performances, jazz, flamenco and much more. We remain highly confident that the programs we will be featuring for this season will complement our continuing efforts to serve as a centre of excellence in global cultural engagement.”

The ROHM leadership is guided by a High Committee spearheaded by Sayyid Fahad Al-Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers. The Opera House showcases rich and diverse artistic creations from Oman, the region and the world. Located in Shati Al-Qurm district of Muscat, Oman, the ROHM reflects contemporary Omani architecture, and has a capacity to accommodate a maximum of 1,100 people. The opera house complex consists of a concert theatre, auditorium, formal landscaped gardens, cultural market with retail, luxury restaurants and an art centre for musical, theatrical and operatic productions. World renowned artists who have performed at the ROHM include famous tenors Placido Domingo and Andrea Bocelli; soprano Renee Fleming and cellist Yo Yo Ma along with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
