KUWAIT- Qadsia and Kuwait football teams qualified for the His Highness Amir Cup final, to be held next Tuesday, after beating Al-Arabi and Al-Jahra clubs respectively in the second leg on Sunday(May 4th).
Qadsia beat Al-Arabi 2-0 in a penalty shoot-out. Both the home and away matches ended scoreless.
Qadsia’s ‘man-of-the-match’ goalie Nawaf Al-Khaledi, managed to block three penalty kicks; from Ali Maqseed, Abdulaziz Al-Selaimi and Issa Waleed, while Al-Arabi’s other shot was converted by Ahmad Al-Saleh who sent it off the post and out the field.
Meanwhile, a relatively ‘relaxed’ Kuwait had it easy, winning the home match against rivals Al-Jahra with a huge score from both sides; 5-4.The White jerseys saw the match an opportunity to give substitutes a chance to prove themselves, especially after securing the away match with a 3-0 result, ending the first half with a 4-1 lead.
Yet, Al-Jahra did not succumb, as they fought hard all through the second half, scoring in minutes 62, 78 and 92 through counter attacks, but eventually the final result was in favor of Kuwait. -KUNA
