MoHAP celebrates World Day for Safety and Health at Work, reinforces UAE’s commitment to worker safety

DUBAI: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has reiterated the UAE’s commitment to maintaining occupational health and safety in the workplace, as it joins the global community in celebrating the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on April 28.

In a statement, MoHAP stressed the significance of the occasion in promoting the concept of a safe and healthy work environment as a right and a basic principle at work. The Ministry highlighted the country’s achievements in safeguarding workers’ health and safety in the workplace, having ratified significant conventions of the International Labor Organization and enacted various laws towards this end.

MoHAP called for the collaboration of all workers and employers in creating a safe and healthy working environment, noting that a positive work culture greatly contributes to improved productivity, quality, and overall social welfare. The Ministry emphasized the need for suitable training and resources to ensure effective implementation of policies and procedures for worker safety.

MoHAP underscored its comprehensive strategy and set of guidelines for occupational safety and health management system, working with relevant authorities in the country to create and revise regulations, policies, and guidelines related to worker safety. The Ministry also utilizes cutting-edge technologies to ensure a healthy and safe work environment for its employees and workers.

Moreover, MoHAP provides top-notch psychological counseling services for employees to support their mental health and promote a sense of security. Regular evaluations are conducted to identify health and safety risks, monitor compliance with standards and conditions, and assess their implementation. The Ministry also established a national system for recording work-related accidents, injuries, and illnesses, in partnership with relevant Arab and international organizations.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to promoting occupational health and safety in every sector, in line with the UAE’s bold aspirations and plans as outlined in the “We the UAE 2031” and “Projects of the 50” strategies. MoHAP’s unwavering commitment to maintaining worker safety is essential in ensuring sustainable health for all members of society and enhancing their quality of life.
