Mohammed Bin Rashid Library hosts workshops at Sharjah reading festival

DUBAI – The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library is hosting a series of interactive workshops at the 16th Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival, which runs from April 23 to May 4.

Designed to promote creativity and literacy among young readers, the sessions are conducted in Arabic and English and include hands-on activities in storytelling, emotional expression, and origami.

Highlights include “What Pet Should I Get?”, an origami workshop focused on animal shapes; “A Book, Too, Can Be a Star”, which introduces children to storytelling basics; “Out of a Jar”, a session that helps participants explore emotions; and “Fox on the Job”, which introduces children to potential career paths.

The library’s participation underscores its commitment to literacy and lifelong learning. It houses nine specialised sub-libraries, including a Children’s Library with over 83,000 titles—some in Braille—and a Young Adults Library featuring more than 18,000 resources.

“Our aim is to nurture a love of reading and discovery through interactive and inclusive experiences,” the library said in a statement.

This marks the second time the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library has joined the festival. Last year, its workshops drew more than 1,800 children.

Families can learn more about the library’s programmes by visiting www.mbrl.ae or following its official social media channels.
