L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution Business Secures Major Contracts in Renewables and Grid Systems

Muscat: In a significant stride towards bolstering its presence in the clean energy sector, Larsen & Toubro’s Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business has clinched multiple orders across Gulf countries and India. The series of wins underscores L&T’s dominance in the region’s clean energy landscape.

Among the notable contracts secured by L&T is the project to construct a 400kV Gas Insulated Substation in Kuwait. This substation will play a pivotal role in providing power to residential clusters within the South Sabah Al-Ahmad City project.

In Oman, L&T is at the forefront of integrating multiple standalone electricity networks into a 400 kV national grid. As part of this initiative, the company has been entrusted with the task of building a 400 kV Overhead Transmission Line and two 400 kV Grid Stations.

The United Arab Emirates has also awarded contracts to L&T for the construction of two 132 kV Substations, highlighting the company’s prowess in delivering critical infrastructure projects.

Further underscoring its commitment to renewable energy, L&T has secured contracts to establish two floating solar plants in India. These projects, with a combined floating solar capacity of over 150 MWac and an additional ground-mounted Solar PV capacity of 120 MWac, mark a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy journey.

According to Mr. T Madhava Das, Whole-Time Director & Sr Executive Vice President (Utilities) at Larsen & Toubro, “Reliable, clean energy is the preferred form for electricity in propelling the growth of both traditional and emerging industries. It is heartening to see that the region makes substantial investments in both renewables and grid infrastructure in a timely manner.”

In addition to the floating solar projects, L&T has also secured contracts to establish 765 kV Transmission Lines and a Gas Insulated Substation in Rajasthan and Karnataka, further solidifying its position as a key player in India’s renewable energy sector.

These developments underscore L&T’s commitment to driving the adoption of sustainable energy solutions and its role in shaping the future of the clean energy landscape in the region and beyond.
