DUBAI – The third edition of Taqdeer Award honoured Larsen & Toubro for providing the best working conditions for labourers in the United Arab Emirates. A total of 31 winning companies were honoured with trophies by Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum at a colourful ceremony held at The Meydan Hotel in Dubai last week.
On behalf of D.K. Sen, Whole Time Director and Senior Executive Vice President (Infrastructure), Larsen & Toubro, Deepak Nayak, head of PT&D UAE received the trophy.
The 31 winners were filtered down from 75 finalists out of an initial 425 applications.
Maj-Gen Obaid Muhair Bin Surour, chairman of Taqdeer Award and deputy director-general of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) said companies were evaluated by more than 105 qualified assessors based on essential fundamentals such as labour policies, occupational health, cultural and work environment factors such as communication, creativity and innovation, rules and regulations as well as results based on labour perceptions and performance indicators.
Launched in 2016 by the Government of Dubai, Taqdeer Award aims to promote excellence in labour welfare practices and safeguard labour rights to increase productivity and efficiency across different sectors.
