Katara to organise El Meyna Contest from May 15

DOHA – Cultural Village Foundation Katara will organise El Meyna (Seaport) Competition for the first time at Katara Beach from May 15 to 17, Katara announced. 

The competition is open to Qatari nationals from age 10 to 16 years. Each team should comprise eight members besides the ship captain, (Al Nokhitha), boatswain mate (Al Majdami) and diver attendant (Arathif), contest organisers said. 

Participants at the competition need to pass swimming and fitness tests. 
Such culture events showcase Qatar’s traditional activities connected to sea like fishing, pearl diving and sea-faring. –QNA
