Jumeirah Jogging Track project implements smart, sustainable lighting solution

DUBAI- Bahri & Mazroei Trading Company (BMTC), part of the Bahri & Mazroei Group has provided innovative and sustainable lighting solutions to the Jumeirah Jogging Track Project in Dubai.

The Jogging Track is part of the ambitious Jumeirah Corniche Development Project that spans over 14 kilometers extending from the Dubai Marina Beach Resort and Spa up to Burj Al Arab Hotel.

The multi-million Dirham contract mandates implementation of sustainable lighting solutions that integrates smart pole technology with multiple functions, aimed at reducing power consumption and operational costs, in addition to enhancing the identity and aesthetic character of the city.

BMTC is a market leader in the UAE and provides a wide range of electrical, lighting and water feature solutions to building and infrastructure projects in the country.

The lighting solution provided by BMTC includes Schreder’s state-of-the-art ModulLum multi-functional column with LED system that provides lighting with aesthetic coherence. The LED lighting system, integrated with the smart and multi-functional ModulLum, has the efficiency to provide light for longer period with lesser power consumption and lower maintenance requirements than other lighting systems available in the market.

The smart pole has multiple lighting configurations and additional features suitable for the needs in the modern urban lighting space. The versatility of the ModulLum range, with its different modules as well as variable diameters and heights, guarantees a perfect match between the column and its architectural environment. The installation is expected to enhance visitor experience to Jumeirah Corniche as well as facilitate jogging activities in the evening.

Commenting on the project, Mr. Esam R. Al Mazroei – Managing Director of Bahri & Mazroei Group, said, “We are happy to implement the very latest solution in urban lighting for the development of the Jumeirah Corniche. The ModulLum range of products is a refined and friendly tool for architects and urban planners, who are constantly looking to create aesthetically consistent public spaces. We see this as the beginning of a new LED era in the city’s leisure destinations in terms of functional use of lighting systems that meets the required levels of safety and re-enforces identity of this modern city as well.”

“The system, with its innovative design and power saving technology, will reflect Dubai’s global standing in design, innovation and creativity. The smart pole integrated multi-functional solution offers an array of features including light-on-demand options, bi-directional communication, integration of telecom and utilities to name a few. We believe that the ModulLum range will set the standard for today and future installations,” he added.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Ministry of UAE and Ruler of Dubai launched in 2012 the UAE Strategy for Green Development, a long-term national initiative to develop a green economy in the UAE. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai embraced this vision with aggressive strategies to install LED lighting solutions across the city, aimed at reducing power consumption and enhancing the visual impact.

“This is a great example of Dubai leading from the front,” says Mr. Esam. “LEDs have revolutionized the entire lighting industry and offer high efficiency solutions to the ever-increasing energy concerns. LEDs now offer complete solutions to create a dynamic lighting environment with enhanced efficiency and quality of light,” he shared his insights on the global LED phenomenon.

BMTC have supplied lighting solutions to a wide range of projects including Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, The Nad Al Hammar Tunnel, Tas’heel Offices, Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed Tunnel, Shams Gate, Ferrari Theme Park, CMW Officer’s Accommodation, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Sowwah Square to name a few.  BMTC is also proud recipient of The Gulf Traffic Award for Innovation in Infrastructure in the year 2011 for their innovative tunnel lighting solutions in the Nad Al Hammar Tunnel Project.  BMTC’s efforts at promoting green technology also won them the Lighting Project of the Year Award at the 2013 edition of Middle East Electricity for the Tasheel Offices in Manara District in Dubai.
