TEHRAN – A three-member delegation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) arrived in Iran on Sunday night(May 4th) in line with a seven-point agreement reached earlier between Tehran and the Agency.
The delegation is headed by senior IAEA expert Massimo Aparo.
The senior IAEA inspectors will hold a meeting with Iranian officials at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran’s headquarters on Monday.
They will also visit the country’s nuclear facilities in accordance with the agreement signed by the UN nuclear watchdog agency and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) in November.
AEOI Spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi said that Tehran has fulfilled a major part of its seven-step procedural agreement with the IAEA.
Most of the seven-step procedural agreement between Iran and the IAEA has been implemented within the framework of the joint plan of action, Kamalvandi told state-run news agency (IRNA) on Sunday.
He noted that the remaining items of the agreement will also come into effect soon.
Kamalvandi pointed to the visit to Iran by IAEA Deputy Director-General Massimo Aparo, and said that Aparo will visit Tehran to report on the implementation of the first step of the Geneva Joint Plan of Action by Iran to the IAEA.
He noted that Aparo and his team of inspectors will visit Saghand uranium mine in Yazd province in Central Iran and Ardakan Yellowcake production – uranium ore concentrate processing – plant in the same province during their two-day visit to the country.
The IAEA inspectors will leave Tehran for Vienna on Tuesday night.-QNA
