NEW DELHI – A 48-hour ban was imposed on Malayalam news channels Asianet News and Media One on Friday for as their coverage of the violence is north-east Delhi could “enhance communal disharmony,” according to the ministry of information and broadcasting.

The ministry of information and broadcasting on Saturday lifted the ban on two Kerala-based news channels over their coverage of the violence in Delhi over the amended citizenship law, news agency PTI quoted sources as saying.

The I&B ministry imposed a 48-hour ban on two Malayalam news channels Asianet News and Media One on Friday for their coverage of the violence is north-east Delhi, which it said could “enhance communal disharmony”.
