Fadwa Baruni launches Autumn/Winter 2014-15 Collection – Olive Tree and Purple Sun

DUBAI- Fadwa Baruni, the renowned pan Arab fashion designer, has launched her Autumn/Winter 2014-15 Collection titled Olive Tree and Purple Sun.

The new collection is available at more than 9 outlets across the Gulf region.

Baruni said: “Rooted in strong regional traditions and simplicity, yet marked by intense vibrant and liberating colors, the Olive Tree and Purple Sun collection was inspired by the grace and elegance of ancient royalty and has underlying tones of feminine sensuality.”

She added: “The shapes and fabrics with contrasting themes capture the role of women in our changing world, accentuated by a contemporary style that makes each article unique.”

The new collection combines fabrics in dark colors for long dresses and slim pants. Black, purple, olive green and grey are the dominant colours of the theme for the Autumn/Winter season. Other pieces of the collection are styled for day-to-day use, including fancy blazers and multi-layer loose tops.

Maintaining the theme of the collection, Fadwa has retained the contrasting trims and lace details in her designs. The collection includes a few designs with contrasting waist bands or lace-fitted bodices and flared skirts.

Fadwa Baruni, among the earliest Arab designers to launch the season’s new collection, says fashion designers are now realising the importance of creating their own trends that will later influence the global fashion sector.

“I used to focus only on dresses, which still remain my passion, but I have decided to give the practical woman an iconic look wherever she goes, no matter what the occasion is,” Baruni said.

“We market this collection under the Baruni label, and our prominent presence across the region through 9 outlets in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, builds on the established style and reputation of the brand,” Baruni added.

According to Fadwa, this collection has a strong focus on regional preferences and allows women the opportunity to stand out from the standard international brand offerings; launching the new collection early will be widely welcomed by fashion-conscious women of the region.

She said: “Women in the region increasingly understand how to integrate strong colours into their wardrobe to achieve a chic and unique look.”

Fadwa has been trained at Edinburgh College of Art and the Indian master-tailoring Pearl Design Centre. She combines strong fashion sensibilities with her earlier training in engineering, to design a collection that displays sophisticated, clean lines and sharp tailoring, all constructed for ease and perfect fit.
