DUBAI- ESET, the global leader in proactive digital protection, today(August 13th) announced its new partnership with Cyberoam Technologies, a leading global provider of network security appliances.
The agreement will now allow the integration of ESET’s Secure Authentication – a mobile solution relying on two-factor, one time passwords (2FA OTP) for remote access – into Cyberoam Technologies’ Unified Threat Management and Next Generation Firewall appliances.
This additional layer of protection will be key to protecting Middle East businesses against data breaches which are most often caused by poorly implemented password management policies.
Remote working and mobility are significant trends in the Middle East owing the increasing need for on-the-go collaboration. At the same time, granting remote access to company networks has opened up new vulnerabilities for businesses in the region.
This reflects a broader global trend identified by Verizon. According to Verizon’s data breach report 2013, 90% of US-based companies suffered a hacking or data breach in 2013, and 76% of these intrusions took advantage of weak passwords.
“Clearly, while the benefits of remote working are evident, there is great need for a smart solution to the password problem,” said Pradeesh VS, General Manager at ESET Middle East. “ESET’s two-factor, one-time passwords are a great way for organisations of all sizes to harden their security posture by providing a secure connection to their sensitive data and networks. We are delighted to be partnering with Cyberoam Technologies and look forward to a bright future working together.”
ESET Secure Authentication is designed to make remote access to the company network and sensitive data safe, and hassle-free. The mobile-based solution is designed for users accessing the company’s VPN and OWA (Outlook Web App) and other Microsoft systems like Dynamics and Sharepoint.
Users can implement ESET Secure Authentication to its RADIUS-based services or use the API to integrate it with an existing authentication system based on Active Directory.
“ESET’s Secure Authentication application not only provides an extra layer of security to our customers as they access their company networks remotely, it’s also really easy to install and use,” said, Ajay Nawani, Global Head Presales at Cyberoam Technologies. “The other great benefit is that it will be provided to VPN users via a pre-installed mobile application or via SMS, designed for users with mobile phones that cannot support apps.”
Many industries, such as health and finance, have a pressing need for stronger user authentication. Existing Cyberoam Technologies’ customers can take advantage of this partnership with ESET to secure VPN communications to servers and web applications, as well as gain granular visibility into network and user activities with Cyberoam Technologies’s monitoring and logging capabilities.
In April this year, Cyberoam Technologies, a spin-off from Elitecore Technologies, was acquired by UK IT security company Sophos.
