Dubai Culture Launches Summer ‘School of Life’ Series at Public Libraries

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (July 2, 2025) — Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has launched the summer edition of its “School of Life” program under the theme “Hello Summer,” offering a diverse lineup of interactive workshops and educational sessions across the emirate’s public libraries.

Running throughout July, the initiative is part of Dubai’s Quality of Life Strategy and aims to build life and creative skills across age groups and communities. A total of 23 workshops and sessions will take place at various Dubai Public Libraries, encouraging exploration in arts, wellness, technology and language.

Workshops include digital storytelling, Arabic calligraphy, healthy living, cultural content creation and more. The program is designed to foster self-confidence, emotional well-being and practical knowledge, while also celebrating creativity and multiculturalism.

At the Reporters Training and Media Production Center, a workshop titled “The Art of Storytelling: Create Meaningful Cultural Content” will teach writers, content creators, and filmmakers to craft impactful content using advanced digital tools.

Hatta Public Library will host “Smoothie Your Way”, led by Nada Saeed Kattan, offering health and nutrition guidance. Meanwhile, Jehan Safar will conduct “Keys to Life” workshops focusing on managing emotions, mental balance, stress relief, and relationship skills—particularly for women—at Hatta and Al Rashidiya Libraries.

Al Safa Art & Design Library will feature five art-based workshops, including “Barjeel: Pencil Holder” by StuDIYo Lab, inspired by Emirati wind towers. Other sessions will guide participants through creating Van Gogh-inspired paintings, plaster sculptures, and seashell art. Under the Calligraphy Club, visitors will learn Ruq’ah Arabic script techniques using traditional tools.

Al Mankhool Public Library will feature the “Baybayin Calligraphy on Beach Hat” workshop, led by Gino Banola, merging Filipino heritage and beach fashion. A Japanese Kakigori (shaved ice) cooking class will also introduce participants to seasonal flavors and cultural traditions.

For language learners, six “French for Beginners” sessions will help develop conversational skills around practical topics like dining, shopping, and navigating city life.

To spotlight emerging talent, Al Safa Art & Design Library hosted the “School of Life Photography Exhibition”, highlighting photography as a medium of storytelling and cultural preservation.

The School of Life initiative continues to reinforce Dubai Culture’s mission to make learning accessible and community-driven across the emirate.
