This DSS is no different, as shoppers from neighbouring countries continue to throng the leading malls such as The Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, BurJuman, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Ibn Battuta Mall and Mercato, to name a few, in search of unbeatable deals and to enjoy an array of events and activities.
Another popular segment of shoppers to these malls comprise the UAE nationals from other emirates, in addition to those living in Dubai, who also come in search of those perfect shopping deals, to win fabulous prizes and to enjoy the festival’s world-class entertainment, an excellent combination that helps position Dubai as the summer destination of choice.
Indeed, malls and souqs in Dubai are offering a complete summer experience with something to entice every member of the family.
Two friends Naser Saeed and Ahmad Kassem from Kuwait have also been enjoying their stay in Dubai since the past few weeks.
“Every summer, our family looks forward to planning a trip to Dubai. The attractions are exciting, especially with the live shows, parades, entertainment and plenty of shopping discounts,” said Naser.
Ahmed Aldossari, Mobarak Aldossari and Turki Alsahli, a group of friends from Riyadh were found checking out the latest cinema offerings in a vibrant shopping atmosphere. “There are so many things to do in Dubai during summer – which is one of the main things that attracts us to this city during these months. This time, my friends and I want to watch all the new movies and enjoy the entertainment events to make the most of the summer season,” said Amer.
“In addition to the events happening at the mall, we also look forward to dining at the restaurants and cafes as they make an ideal spot for us as friends to just hang out and have fun,” added Turki.
“But, most of all, we are excited to be in Dubai during summer because we get great discounts and promotions during shopping. Imagine, here we can get great bargains for our favourite products from international brands. This makes the visit to Dubai really worth it,” Mobarak concluded.
Mohammad Al Amri from Abu Dhabi, drove to Dubai with his family to enjoy some quality time together and to take advantage of DSS’ shopping promotions. He said: “Dubai continues to be a wonderful destination for families. We happen to visit the emirate every now and then, and each time we are enthralled by new surprises, including new stage shows for kids, meet and greet opportunities with their favourite cartoon characters and great bargains to satisfy all of our shopping needs.”
The 17th edition of DSS, which is organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), commenced on 2 August, and will run until 5 September this year, under the theme, “The Fun Side of Summer.”
