In China, the delegation will meet senior energy officials and take field trips to discover best practices and guidelines in clean-coal power stations. After China, the delegation will head to South Korea to meet senior officials at Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) including Hwaneik Cho, CEO of KEPCO, to exchange insights and review best practices in smart grids.

DEWA’s delegation will also visit the Korea Electric Power Research Institute (KEPRI) where they will meet Dr. Geumyoung Jung, Vice President of KEPRI.

In April 2014, DEWA signed an MoU with KEPCO during the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2014) to foster cooperation and exchange insights on smart grids, smart cities, demand side management, asset management, distribution automation, substation automation, advanced metering infrastructures, telecommunications, system integration, it infrastructures, renewable energy, electric vehicles, micro grids, databases in the energy sector, investment and participating opportunities, performance benchmarking, and organising mutual workshops to raise awareness.

DEWA is playing a vital role in building Smart Dubai through new smart initiatives to fulfil Dubai’s sustainable vision. This includes encouraging building owners to install photovoltaic solar panels to generate electricity, providing smart applications for quick-service connections, and smart consumption through smart meters, to improve the quality of life of Dubai’s citizens and residents and sustainably manage resources.
