DCT Abu Dhabi Launches new Entrepreneurship Programme

Abu Dhabi: To support entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) is launching Open Minds, a new programme aiming to provide the support necessary to adapt and respond to business challenges brought forth by the worldwide spread of COVID-19.

Organised by DCT Abu Dhabi’s MAKTAB libraries and running until October 2020, the programme will give 200 entrepreneurs the opportunity to participate in a series of intensive courses covering a range of business topics, including how to address the specific commercial challenges under the global pandemic, how to bring one’s passion to life in business, and other related topics.

Entrepreneurs and SME owners who enrol in Open Minds will also have access to the Dar Al Kutub e-library, allowing them to explore the vast catalogue and expand their knowledge of a wide range of subjects. The e-library has many business administration books and welcomes reviews, allowing readers to connect and share ideas. In addition, useful information will be made available on the Dar Al Kutub social media channels, granting readers quick and easy access to helpful resources.

His Excellency Abdullah Majed Al Ali, Executive Director of the Dar Al Kutub sector at DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “Due to the current circumstances, we has an opportunity to rethink the programmes and support we provide to society. As the UAE works to encourage innovation, research, and business growth, supporting our local entrepreneurs is a necessary action, as we seek to further develop the important role they play in our economy.

“Through the Open Minds programme, we are steering towards unlocking the endless potential of our citizens and residents. As the culture of entrepreneurship and small business ownership continues to blossom, we look forward to encouraging a new generation of independent innovators fuelled by a spirit of creativity and ambition. ”

DCT Abu Dhabi is working closely with suppliers and partners, both locally and in the GCC region, in order to provide entrepreneurs with the necessary support and guidance.
