Construction of second 5-star hotel kicks off at Saraya Bandar Jissah

MUSCAT- Saraya Bandar Jissah, the company developing Oman’s newest Integrated Tourism Complex, announced that construction work has recently commenced on the resort hotel with a contract close to 30 Millions Omani Rials.

Leighton Middle East Contracting LLC, the local arm of Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG), one of the leading diversified international contractors in the region, has been appointed for the hotel construction. HLG will be responsible for carrying out all civil works, MEP work and finishes. This will also include infrastructure preparation and landscaping.

HLG has wide experience in construction including hotel developments, commercial and retail developments, residential developments, hospitals and healthcare facilities and government buildings.

The 5-star hotel will be operated by Jumeirah Group, the internationally-renowned luxury hotels and resorts operator, which will bring its expertise in developing leading destinations catering to both domestic and international tourists.

Atkins will serve as the supervision consultants, managing the progress of the construction work on site.

This hotel project, part of the first construction phase along with the boutique hotel, recreational facilities and residential neighborhoods, will be completed in 2017. The two hotels will together form the major leisure components of Saraya Bandar Jissah.

HLG CEO and Managing Director, Mr. José Antonio López-Monís, said HLG is pleased to be involved in a project that will help contribute to Oman’s economy and enhance the region’s attraction as a popular tourist destination.

“This is our first contract with Saraya Bandar Jissah and we are proud to be selected as the main contractor to deliver what will be a flagship hotel in the region.,” he said.

The resort hotel features 206 rooms and world-class facilities and services such as a beachfront ballroom for weddings and events, spa, sports activities including a dive centre, and specialty restaurants offering various international cuisines.

The hotel is nestled against the mountainside and presents spectacular views of the secluded beachfront and sea from its raised entrance and reception.

Saraya Bandar Jissah also recently held the groundbreaking under the patronage of the Honorable H.H Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tariq Al Said, Representative to His Majesty, and attended by dignitaries such as members of the Omani royal family, ministers, undersecretaries and business leaders.
