Cisco commences intern programme for undergraduate students in the UAE

DUBAI– Cisco announced today(July 13th) the launch of its annual  university undergraduate internship program in the UAE, designed to help boost the job skills and employability of young talent.

Departments at Cisco which will be open to interns, to gain vital work experience will include sales, engineering, finance, human resources, business operations, and marketing. Following a rigorous recruitment and selection process, successful candidates will join Cisco on assignment for a period of between 3 – 12 months depending on their University timetable and the Cisco hiring manager’s needs.

81be2a82ce31ebfd_orgThe criteria for consideration will be that students must be enrolled at an accredited university and actively pursuing an undergraduate degree course during their period of their internship. Interns can be part time or full time depending on business requirements.

“Across the Middle East, and especially the UAE, there is a strong demand for young talent, to drive innovation and creativity, especially in the ICT sector,” said Toneya Sarwar, Human Resources Manager in the Middle East, Cisco.

“Our internship program will give students in the UAE the opportunity to dive right into exciting technology-related and non- technology related projects in order to gain the skills needed to successfully enter the job force,” added Sarwar. “A large proportion of our interns advance to long-term careers at Cisco, and we are particularly committed to diversity in supporting local talent and increasing the number of women in the workforce. We are also working with universities to identify high-potential young talent who can become Cisco brand ambassadors of the future,” Sarwar concluded.
