Brazil’s chicken meat exports to Arab countries up 16.3 per cent
Dubai: Brazil’s chicken meat exports to Arab countries soared to USD 1635.17 million from January to August 2019, up 16.3 per cent from a year ago, the latest figures from the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) showed.
A total of 1014.70 thousand tons of chicken meat was shipped to Arab buyers led by the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait during the first eight months of the year. Saudi Arabia bought 320.85 thousand tons amounting to USD 555.33 million, while UAE imported 239.58 thousand tons of chicken meat worth USD 399.51 million. The third top buyer, Kuwait, imported 75.35 thousand tons worth USD 115.38 million.
Rubens Hannun, President of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, said: “The latest figures released by the Brazilian Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services reflects exceptional export performance from Brazilian companies and demonstrates the strong ties from both parties to nurture trade relations between Brazil and the Arab countries. The growth strongly indicated the region’s continued trust in the quality of competitively priced products and goods that are coming from the country. Another demand driver is the strict adherence of Brazil, the region’s main chicken supplier, to the halal process and the highest health standards to cater to the needs of its Arab trade partners.”
“We are confident that the numbers during the remainder of the year will steadily grow on account of the robust economic and trade ties between Brazil and the Arab world. We at ABCC will continue to remain steadfast in our commitment to facilitate and introduce new trading opportunities to sustain the upward trajectory in their trade activities. We expect to witness stronger trade partnership between the South American country and Arab region next year as we, at ABCC, remain steadfast in our commitment to facilitate and introduce new trading opportunities to sustain the existing significant market growth,” he concluded.
The ABCC further shared that the top five Arab destinations for Brazilian poultry during the first eight months were the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Egypt, and Oman. Brazil’s strong poultry performance can be attributed to the country being safe from avian flu, good diplomatic ties with the international markets and the superior quality of its poultry products.
