Bahrain to host youth workshop “Building Community and Youth Initiatives”

MANAMA- The Bahraini capital, Manama, will host a youth workshop organized by the Secretariat General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, entitled: “Building Community and Youth Initiatives”.

The workshop will take place on 27th and 28th of August, in the presence and with the participation of HH Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of Bahrain Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and HE Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The workshop will be the third in a series of workshops being held by the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States in the member states, following a decision made by the GCC Supreme Council during its 34th summit in Kuwait in December 2013, which affirmed the necessity of nurturing and developing young people by organizing development workshops on a regular basis.

The workshop will discuss three main topics: means to activate youth involvement in community development, how to develop their related skills, and how to encourage positive youth initiatives. Participants in the two-day workshop will study youth-related social issues – including healthcare, cultural, environmental, social and educational issues – which are likely to be among the main fields of youth involvement.

Participants will be introduced to the best methods to build and develop the necessary skills that help young men boost their social involvement. They will learn about best models, practices and initiatives, including the national and international initiatives related to improving youth community involvement.

The workshop is part of a series of six sessions held by the GCC-SG in the member states, aiming to encourage youth engagement in community development and inspire self-development to achieve this goal. They also aim to encourage constructive initiatives that support young people’s positive role in and contribution to community development.

The latest workshop seeks to help nurture students to acquire the skills, abilities and knowledge required to encourage regular and effective youth involvement. It will introduce various initiatives and proposals for community development programs and projects commensurate with the abilities and potential of the young participants.
