ATM focus on Sharjah Islamic Culture Capital Celebrations

SHARJAH- On day two of the Arabian Travel Market Dubai, Sharjah continued to generate wide interest with a number of delegates, trade visitors and members of media visiting the Emirate’s stand. HE Mohamed Ali Al Noman, Chairman, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority received HE Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman, Ajman Municipality, HE Khalaf Ahmed Al Habtoor, Chairman, Al Habtoor Group and a number of UAE dignitaries and business leaders.

HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Director General, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, has underlined the importance of Sharjah’s participation in the Arabian Travel Market Dubai this year, at a time when the Sharjah Islamic Culture Capital celebrations are in full swing, shining the light on the Emirate’s cultural and Islamic heritage and asserting its position as a pioneering cultural and family destination.

Sharjah’s participation in the ATM Dubai, being held from May 5 to 8 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, bringing together more than 3,200 participants from 90 countries. The high-level Sharjah delegation includes more than 15 government entities and private sector actors of the tourism and hospitality sector in the Emirate provides an ideal platform for showcasing this.

Al Midfa reiterated that Sharjah’s presence for the 17th consecutive year at the ATM Dubai opens up enormous opportunities to meet and interact with the leaders and decision makers of the industry from across the globe. He said that the exhibition has over the years helped Sharjah in reaching out to the GCC and strengthen its position in global markets.

Al Midfa said that this has been a year of high achievements and excellence for Sharjah and the Authority at various levels including its success in attracting families, international tourists and intellectuals and investors from across the region and around the world even as Sharjah hosts a number of global events and festivals.

He stressed that all public and private stakeholders in Sharjah are keen to keep up with the recent growth in the tourism industry and the increasing number of tourists every year evidenced by the developing infrastructure, new hotel facilities and increased number of new projects which will embrace tourism.

The Sharjah pavilion at the ATM Dubai this year turns the spotlight on the theme of the Sharjah Islamic Culture Capital 2014. With a distinct, contemporary look, the 558-square metre Sharjah stand reflects the various facets of Sharjah’s tourism experience, its tourist attractions, projects and renowned international festivals and events hosted by the Emirate throughout the year.  Visitors to the stand are received with traditional Emirati warmth, brochures and promotional literature about Sharjah in Arabic and English.
