Ancelotti Begins New Era as Head Coach of Brazil’s National Football Team

RIO DE JANEIRO – Carlo Ancelotti has officially arrived in Brazil to commence his role as head coach of the national football team, marking a new chapter in the storied career of the Italian tactician.

Ancelotti touched down in Rio de Janeiro early Monday morning, following his departure from Real Madrid, where he concluded his tenure with a 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad. His arrival has been met with significant enthusiasm from Brazilian fans, eager to see the five-time World Cup champions return to their former glory.

The 65-year-old coach is set to be officially presented later today, during which he will announce his first squad selection. Ancelotti’s contract with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) extends through the 2026 World Cup, reflecting the federation’s confidence in his leadership.

Brazil currently sits fourth in the South American World Cup qualifying standings with 21 points, having experienced a challenging period with only one win in their last four matches, including a 4-1 defeat to Argentina. Ancelotti’s immediate focus will be on revitalizing the team’s performance ahead of upcoming qualifiers against Ecuador on June 5 and Paraguay on June 10.

Notably, Ancelotti’s long-time assistant and son, Davide Ancelotti, did not accompany him to Brazil, amid reports linking Davide to the managerial vacancy at Rangers FC. Instead, Paul Clement, a former assistant under Ancelotti at clubs like Chelsea and Real Madrid, is expected to join the coaching staff.

Ancelotti’s appointment is seen as a strategic move by the CBF to leverage his extensive experience and success at the club level to guide Brazil back to the pinnacle of international football.
