ABU DHABI- Inspectors from Abu Dhabi International Airport’s customs centre recently foiled a smuggling attempt of 1.365 kg of marijuana, which was seized from a passenger entering the country through the airport.
The inspectors searched the 30 year-old Asian traveller and found 1.365 kg of a green substance in his bag, which was suspected to be marijuana.
Following the inspection, the illegal substances were confiscated and the traveller was detained and transferred to the concerned authorities to take all necessary legal action.
Commenting on the incident, Mohamed Khadem Al Hameli, Acting Director General of the General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs, praised the customs inspectors’ experience and ability to prevent various types of illegal smuggling.
Al Hameli also stressed the important role that customs inspectors play in protecting their homeland and maintaining security.
