Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Leadership Program inaugurates 2014/15 edition

AJMAN- The Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Leadership Program, a first-of-its-kind program that aims to empower talented young individuals with essential leadership qualities, marked the launch of its 2014/15 edition by holding a press conference on 13th May 2014.

The press conference included a speech by the Chairman of the Committee at the ALP, His Excellency Faisal Al Nuaimi, who is Director General of the Ajman Tourism Development Department. The ALP team member Humaid Al Ajmani also gave a presentation about this year’s Program – which for the first time has expanded its eligibility to include all GCC nationals – before hosting a Q&A session for the media and a gala lunch.

Faisal Al Nuaimi, Head of the committee at ALP said, “We are delighted to introduce this year’s ALP, which promises to build upon the exceptional success of our Pilot Program. Expanding the ALP’s intake this year underlines our emphasis on inclusiveness: to give young men and women from all across the region a unique opportunity to hone their skills, broaden their horizons, and learn from our vastly experienced team of trainers to step up and become successful leaders of the future.

Online registration for the Program began on 1st May 2014, and will remain open for one month. The latest figures show that up until 12th May 2014, 92 candidates have registered. Application is open to GCC nationals between the ages of 25 and 35 who have at least a higher diploma, a minimum of two years’ work experience, are currently employed and satisfy a minimal English skills standard.

As well as being personally overseen by Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the Program has the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, and HH Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi the Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council.

Its classroom modules will focus on six core competencies: Organizational Behaviour & Sustainable Excellence, Strategic Management, Performance Management, Personal Development & Financial Planning, Change Management, and Emotional Intelligence. There will also be supplementary modules on Health & Nutrition, Etiquette & Protocol, Coaching & Mentoring, Media Coaching, and Experiential Learning.

A total of 109 candidates applied for the ALP’s pilot scheme last year. Of these, 78 were invited to complete interviews, and 61 passed through to the next stage. On 26 September 2013, following a psychometric test, 16 candidates were accepted onto the ALP – all of whom ultimately completed the Program successfully.
