80 million dirhams Spent by Awqaf Dubai on Society in 2023

Dubai, UAE: The Endowments and Minors’ Affairs Trust Foundation in Dubai (Awqaf Dubai) announced that its spending on societal welfare in 2023 totaled AED 80 million across various sectors including health, education, Islamic affairs, social affairs, and general charity. This marked a 12% increase compared to expenditures in 2022.

According to Awqaf Dubai, AED 5.106 million was spent on education, covering educational expenses for indigent students. Additionally, AED 4.175 million was allocated to the healthcare sector to support the treatment of low-income patients. Islamic affairs and mosques received AED 48 million, while AED 22.5 million was allocated to social affairs and general charity, benefiting low-income earners, people with disabilities, widows, and orphans.

His Excellency Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary General of Awqaf Dubai, emphasized the Foundation’s dedication to achieving a meaningful impact in vital sectors of society. This commitment aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as well as the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. This includes prioritizing the establishment of sustainable community development initiatives, in line with the programs outlined in the Dubai Social Agenda 33.

HE Al Mutawa highlighted that Awqaf Dubai’s strategic plan is grounded in a clear vision: to institute the principle of sustainable endowment and implement a digital framework that fosters an endowment sector embracing excellence and corporate innovation. This vision aims to elevate societal sectors, particularly education and scientific research, as well as providing essential funding to fortify healthcare facilities and research centers. Moreover, Awqaf Dubai is committed to establishing sustainable endowments to cater to the needs of mosques, ensuring a sustainable, positive impact on society and future generations.
