37th session of Arab Youth, Sports Ministerial Council kicked off today
SHARM EL-SHEIKH- The 37th session of the Arab Youth and Sports Ministerial Council kicked off on Monday(May 5th,2014) with the participation of Kuwait’s Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah.
“Arab youth should not forget that democracy is a way of life and a practice, so they have to start with applying it themselves through respecting difference in viewpoints,” Lebanese Minister of Youth and Sports and chairman of last session of the Arab Youth and Sports Ministerial Council Abd Al-Mutalib Hanawi said in his address at the session opening.
“Youth must have a leading role in building democracy, promoting social justice, human rights and public freedoms,” he added.
Hanawi underlined the importance of mobilizing all efforts to protect youth against the spreading extremist ideas in the region.
He called for offering all support and incentives to Arab youth to excel in their careers and harness their talents to better serve their own societies.
For his part, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Khalid Abdelaziz pointed out that the Arab region is undergoing rapid changes that obliges governments to do all in power to accommodate youth and meet their legitimate aspirations. Abdelaziz added that the council’s session will tackle a wide array of key issues relative to the development of Arab youth and sports.
He noted that the ministers would also discuss holding a number of conferences, forums, and events to build and develop the capacity of Arab youth in different domains.
In this regard, he thanked the Kingdom of Bahrain for adopting the initiative of “The Capital of Arab Youth” which will be put into effect as of 2015.
A large and senior Kuwaiti delegation is participating in the activities of the Arab Youth and Sports Ministerial Council headed by Kuwait’s Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Information Minister Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah.-KUNA
